I’d always assumed that the Alperton moorings were typical store 24-hour moorings; I’ve got vague memories of other boaters telling us that the moorings there were ok – like you say, maybe not unattended.

I haven’t noticed any pubs around Perivale – every time we’ve stopped there we’ve stayed on board – usually enjoying the spoils of a raid to Tesco’s in Bulls Bridge! If we’ve had the car with us then we’ve just driven back to the Black Horse.

I’m back there next wednesday for the cruise back to Paddington. I’m intending to go by public transport so I’ll have a look around for shops/pubs and let you know. Don’t hold your breath – I don’t think there’s much around there…..

I love reading people’s accounts of cruising a patch I know well and yours was splendid. We too mused over the Alperton moorings. I might risk it overnight if I was aboard. However we’d never thought of mooring at Perivale. Are there any shops nearby, or perhaps a nice pub?

Funny, I was just musing today about how we had spent an hour chatting without mentioning toilets!! A record. Let’s hope we can meet up again and have longer to talk ( but not necessarliy about loos).

This is your bossy captain speaking. Another fab day, thank you so, so much for your hospitality and generosity and for letting me have my narrowboat ‘fix’. I can’t think of a much better way to spend a Sunday than being in the company of good friends, raising awareness of greyhounds, pootling along the cut and consuming vast amounts of coffee. Awesome. Can we do Brentford to Limehouse next?

Ha Ha, I’ll have to be more precise, though I do sometimes cuddle up on the sofa with Lou if I want a lie-in.

Of course, I could argue that the dogs have much more comfortable beds than us what with the sheepskins, pillows and duvets. They’ve just perked up, thinking that we might try a swap then (they’re not allowed on our bed at home or on the boat) – dream on doggies!

Oh, they’re not allowed on our beds because they’re just too big – we’ve not moral objections to dogs on beds……
