Dog Blog: Lynx’s Diary

Posted by indigodream on 27 December, 2010

Tuesday 21st December

I had to do bed rest outside while Lou and Ty woz rummaging - daddy Richard woz hoovering - there's no peace for a hound....

Well, as yous all know, I’s bin a little bit in the dog-house on account of that dretful slander about me, Ty an’ the skwirrel – as if I’d hurt my best friend Ty!

Anyhoo, I needed to make up some serious ground, so once Ty woz better, I sort of ran into sumfink in the garden so could get a bit of mummy Sue sympafy.

I may have overdone it a bit…..

I woz in a bit of pain – good for sympafy;

then I woz in LOTS of pain – trip to emergency vet;

then I got reely ill – doggie hospital for 2 days – oops!

I’s run a bit too hard into sumfink and bruised all of my insides and punctured me lung! But there wasn’t a mark on the outside – the vets woz mystified – mummy Sue is mystified – I’s a medical marvel!

Mummy Sue’s been tearing her hair out and what’s left has gone grey – can’t fink why!

I’s home from hospital now and I has to have bed rest and I needs to eat, coz everyone knows that hospital food isn’t fit for a dog – mummy Sue sez I look like a skelington. So now mummy Sue is runnin’ around boiling chicken and other delicacies and bringing them to me bed – aaaah, that’s more like it.

Now, how about a bit of charging’ round the garden – wot do you mean “no chargin’ around” – I loves chargin’ around. I’s a bit sad, but the sadder I look the more fuss I gets – even daddy Richard has joined in the fussing so it’s not all bad…..

Saturday 25th December

Happy Chrissmas everyone – I hoped yous all had a better day than us.

See those green eyes - that's us using our hypno powers to get more leftovers - it worked too!

Mummy Sue disturbed all of our sleeps at 6am – wots wrong mummy Sue, yous never out of bed before 9am, oops, did I say that out loud?? Then she woz too busy all morning to give us a proper fuss but the house was full of lushus smells – roast chicken, gammon and our all time favrit – roast beef and sosidges. Me, Lou an’ Ty kept a good watch on the kitchen but then, BUT THEN, Mummy Sue and Daddy Richard walked out the door with the meat and just left us the smell. We was proper despondent and took to our beds in despair – I woz goin’ to ring Childline but Lou sed ‘just wait’ – course, she knows the routine so me an’ Ty settled down to waitin’.

An’ Lou woz right – Mummy Sue and Daddy Richard came home with a HUGE bag of scraps – there woz chicken, an’ beef, and gammon, and sosidges – yum yum yum……

So Chrissmas is ok after all – we haven’t had our presents yet but that woz ok becoz Ty ran away with Daddy Richard’s new socks and I had a nibble of Mummy Sue’s new hat – it looks like a wabbit – Mummy Sue’s wearing a wabbit on her head, look a wabbit, on her head!

I’s feelin’ much better, the vet says I’s on the mend tho I’s still not allowed to charge around; don’ tell eveyone, but I doesn’t reelly feel like chargin’ round so that’s ok, an’ it is very very cold out there….

I hopes that all the houndies in the kennels gets a new forever home in the New Year – is qwite nice having a place of your own an’ a mummy an daddy to spoilt you rotten give you the basics……

"watch me" sez daddy Richard - har har, like we'd watch anything else when he's holding a big chunk of roast beef! Where's Ty - oh, he's wandered off - he's not as clever as me and Lou!

Sunday 26th December

Oooh, mummy Sue is complainin’ that she’s eaten too much – huh, me an’ Ty are starvin’ so why don’t she eat less and give us more…….

Note from Sue:

Dear Santa

For Christmas please may I have:

  • a large sack of health and happiness, enough to share with all our family, friends and readers (friends we haven’t met!)
  • a device for defrosting canals
  • one whole week without a visit to the vet

I have been a very good girl, so please please put the above items in your sack!

Yours sincerely

Sue

A word… next year, the scraps go out of the door with Mummy Sue and Daddy Richard, mug them before they escape with the goodies – the old trip-hazard works here aboard Caxton. F&F

Wishing you all a healthy and happy New Year and looking forward to meeting all again.

Shaved bits always look worst on our black beauties! Wishing you splendiferous hair regrowth in the New Year, boys!

When Lou was shaved we found that she had brindle skin which was quite attractive in its own right. But our black-furred boys have lily-white skin which makes them look particularly pitiful – we’re willing their fur to grow back quickly!

We were distressed because our favourite vet has cut back on his routine clinical duties and will only do complicated cases from now on, oh, hang on, I guess that we won’t be missing him then!

Sounds like you’ve all had a prety hectic Christmas, but thank you for giving the rest of us a laugh over the doggie antics. Here’s wishing you all a peaceful, vet-free new year.
Big hugs to Sue and Richard, behind-the-ear rubs to the Woofs.

    Hi Carrie

Behind-the-ear rubs administered and appreciated – the hounds say “thanks” but are looking forward to meeting you in person so that you can hug them direct!

Happy New Year to you too!
