Boat Blog: Jubilee Day (5)

Posted by indigodream on 3 June, 2012

Sunday 3rd June – 12 noon

Wandsworth/Barn Elms is THE place to be – there are a huge number of boats here and we’re starting to get an idea of the scale of the event.

The rowing boats are starting their long toil downriver – we’ve just seen a Samoan?? rowing boat – they are doing a loud and distinctive “Hakka” style chant – without the arm actions of course, that would put them off their stroke 🙂

Photos to follow when we’re moored up…..

Thanks so much for keeping us updated … it’s nearly as good as being there!

  2. About to turn the telly on, hope to see Grannie and Grandad. Have fun, Rose and Rowan x

I think the ‘Samoan’ boat would have been a Maori Waka from New Zealand especially if they had done a haka.
